Meet Angela Beldin-Middleton
The Woman with the Heart to Serve
Dr. Angela Beldin-Middleton is a Georgia native who has lived in the Lowcountry for more than three decades. Her love of healthcare has impelled her to speak on health-related topics such as Health Management, Hypertension, and Diabetes. As a Veteran and a former Registered Nurse for the Department of Veteran Affairs, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from Kaplan University and a Master’s in Nursing Education from Western Governors University. Angela is a member of the American Diabetes Association, an Ambassador for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and the American Heart Association, and a senior instructor of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation to healthcare providers and the community.
OUR MISSION
Our Mission is to provide young people exiting the foster care system with tangible resources to fit the individual’s needs and their community’s ever-changing demands in a strategic manner.
The Vision
Edifying Hope’s Vision is to create concrete resource opportunities for each person exiting the foster care system at the given time. The intention is for the individual to become self-sufficient and a productive citizen through innovation, education and soft skills; thereby taking their communities and workforce to the next level of excellence and productivity.
MY WHY
Her name was Sarah. She was my neighbor. One day, when she was about nine, I saw her and her little brother playing outside in a ditch when it was freezing cold. I went out and asked why they were playing outside when it was so cold. Sarah, in her ernest way, stated that their parents wouldn't allow them in the house right now.
It wasn't long after that when Children's Services got involved. Mom went to jail for drug abuse, Dad went to jail for domestic violence and Sarah and her brother were off to foster care. At age eighteen, Sarah came to my door asking for help. I tried to help as best I could, but she soon moved on. I don't know what happened with her, but she has always been in my heart. If I can help other folks when they leave "the system" without a support network, I want to be there.
